Di dalam gerimis hujan ini aku mempercepatkan langkah

Seperti panahan kilat di waktu musim panas

dan begitulah cepatnya kehilangan cinta dua orang kekasih

Ah……Beginilah hatiku membakar

dan kini menjadi warna debu revival.

Ah….. hanya terbayang kisah dahulu

Jikalau hanya kenalan sahaja bolehlah dilupai

Saat terakhir hanya bergelinangan air mata

Barulah sedar betapa dalamnya cinta itu

Ah……terkenangkan dia yang betapa baik hati

Tetapi sekarang menjadi biru gelap revival

Ah….hanya terbayang kisah dahulu

Esok mungkin berulang kembali....

This project is an initiative to bring open source to the grassroots level. In reality, not an exaggeration to say that the use of open source software is still proprietary in nature when viewed literally. What are the benefits of open source software? Open source software 'open' the opportunities of individuals and communities to develop their potential.

Linux is a movement driven by Malaysian on the linux and Open Source community awareness to introduce students to institutions of higher learning linux. Main objectives: To provide exposure on Linux for student life, work.

The Case Of Runaway Clock

This unique problem I have never encounter before. After we adjust the time and install Network TIme protocol Service (NTP) the clock is still drifting for more than 8 hours in a day.

I had Google for an answer, its may happened be because of the internal clock in the Linux operating systerm. In detail time drifting occurs because of changes made by the operating system.

In-depth,  hwclock depend on the file /etc/adjtime to check for drifting information to make the adjustment and /etc/adjtime will make the correction to system to make sure the clock back in order.

My problem occur may due to drifting information below ... Look at the number 550.026225

*** Before delete ***

/etc/adjtime

# file /etc/adjtime
/etc/adjtime: ASCII text

# cat /etc/adjtime
550.026225 1280462978 0.000000
1280462978
LOCAL

I delete /etc/adjtime, adjust the time and hwclock -w to sysnc with hardware clock and a new /etc/adjtime will be made ....

I'm not sure this will solve the problem because it takes 24 hours to see whether drifting with large gap different occurs or not.

*** After delete and recreate ***

/etc/adjtime

# cat /etc/adjtime
0.000000 1280464987 0.000000
1280464987
LOCAL

Format /etc/adjtime

The format of the adjtime file is, in ASCII:

Line 1: 3 numbers, separated by blanks: 1) systematic drift rate in seconds per day, floating point decimal; 2) Resulting number of seconds  since 1969 UTC of most recent adjustment or calibration, decimal integer; 3) zero (for compatibility with clock(8)) as a decimal integer.

Line 2: 1 number: Resulting number of seconds since 1969 UTC of most recent calibration.  Zero if there has been no calibration yet or it is known that any previous calibration is moot (for example, because the Hardware Clock has been found, since that calibration,  not  to  contain  a  valid
time).  This is a decimal integer.

Line  3:  "UTC"  or  "LOCAL".   Tells whether the Hardware Clock is set to Coordinated Universal Time or local time.  You can always override this value with options on the hwclock command line.

(2) Using cups-pdf

Cups-pdf

Turn your Linux box into a PDF-making machine

For Ubuntu 9.04 I'm install cups-pdf from Synaptic Package Manager, search for cups-pdf. One problem, you need to create directory in your home directory called PDF. Example /home/haris/PDF (PDF capital letters)

ps. This bug already reported

(3) OpenOffice.org

Report For SCO 505 System Tuning

Report For SCO 505 System Tuning

Report summary for SCO 505 System tuning. A job that I had done on 10th and 14th December 2004. Share this for reference to others. I will write detail about each items and compare it with Linux commands.

The report

The system has been monitored on one day basis at approximately on 6 hours and below the finding:

a. Run the sar command to monitor memory utilization, CPU load and Hard disk cache and write buffer.

b. Checking the root file system / and found inadequate disk space for virtual disk buffer to spare for any spooling process like printing services.

c. Cheking the log files and log rotation as well as the cron (task scheduler) jobs.

d. Check the network LISTEN state to identify any unusable ports and services.

e. Check the backup on offline system and found the tape drive could not be read and suspected the tape drive malfunction and also likely the device may not perform fully functional on the task to write to the tape.

f. Prepare the backup for / and /etc and any configuration file for easy future recovery task.

Tuning and Improvement Done

1. System File Cleanup

dfspace

/var/adm
/var/spool

- Null log files and spool file which are not necessary

/tmp and /var/tmp to be checked for any large unnecessry file that exhausted the / root directory.

2. Processes

- Stop non used services and remove from auto startup

- it is recorded that previous service from 31 open port and services has been reduce to 18 ports and services.

3. Kernel Tuning (NBUF)

- change from current default 6652K to 268288K

- reason for kernel tuning (increase the buffer cache) to the recommendation of the physical memory, that likely reported by SCO Unix for better performance.

- Recompile the kernel

4. Installed the monitoring Utility Using SCO Skunware 98 CD

- Installed top (to view and monitor active process in text mode)

- Installed the sarcheck to monitor hardware performance
