QR Code Generator From Zxing Project

QR Code

My interest with QR code begin when using the latest Nokia that has the ability to scan QR code by using build in camera. Yesterday I know, its called QR code while searching in OSDC.my Mail-Archive.

A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" is derived from "Quick Response", as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

You can used QR Code Generator from Zxing Project.

ZXing (pronounced "zebra crossing") is an open-source, multi-format 1D/2D barcode image processing library implemented in Java. Our focus is on using the built-in camera on mobile phones to photograph and decode barcodes on the device, without communicating with a server.

Using Google Calculator To Calculate Percentage

Using Google Calculator To Calculate Percentage

I need to calculate the different of total from numbers given and convert it into percentage. We can use Google Calculator to help us.

http://www.google.com.my/intl/en/help/features.html#calculator

For example :-

A total of 1700 and a given number of 1450, what is the percentage different between the total and the number given.

(1) Visit http://www.google.com/

(2) In the search box type

100-((1450/1700)*100)=

Click the search button.

(3) We will get

100 - ((1 450 / 1 700) * 100) = 14.7058824

The percent = 14.71%

(4) Click the link below to get the above example

http://www.google.com.my/search?hl=en&q=100-((1450%2F1700)*100)%3D&btnG=Search&meta=

People Come Into Your Life For A Reason, A Season Or A Lifetime

People Come Into Your Life For A Reason, A Season Or A Lifetime

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLltt5cPDOc

When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON. . .
It is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are!
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part,
or at an inconvenient time, this person will say
or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered.
And now it is time to move on.

Then people come into your life for a SEASON....
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons
: things you must build upon in order to have
a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life,
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime ...

Command For rpmbuild

You need to install rpmbuild (yum install rpm-build) modules to used the command below. This is just my note regarding command I need to used.

Directory under /usr/src/redhat
BUILD RPMS SOURCES SPECS SRPMS

cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS

rpmbuild -ba nameofyourspec.spec

This will produce rpm and rpms files, That will reside under directory /usr/src/redhat/RPMS and /usr/src/redhat/SRPMS

Another command I love to used is to identify the file came from what package.

rpm -qf /usr/src/redhat

rpm-build-4.4.2-48.el5

Force Check Linux File System Under Maintenance Mode

Force Check Linux File System Under Maintenance Mode

One of the server running Backuppc and using USB storage to store the backup and I called it harisbackup. Its has one habit, in a period of a month, it will detect having a file system problem. The file system type is ext2. Before using ext2, I had use ext3, but USB storage keep on detaching itself after a few days. Changing to ext2 resolved the issue.

If you want to used, external storage, USB connecton is not a good option if you want to keep it permanent mounted. Used Firewire or Iscsi and format it with ext2 or reiserfs. ext4 not yet tested. I believe high IO between mounted file system and OS in long period of time like days, the device will disconnect itself.

If you get error messages as per below when rebooting the system. (Im using Linux Centos 5).

----- Start Message -----

harisbackup contains a file system with errors, check forced

harisbackup : | =============== |% (until it finish)

unattached inode 2050

root : UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; run fsck MANUALLY
(i.e. , without -a or -p options)

*** An error occured during the file system check
*** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
*** when you leave the shell.

Give root password for maintenance.
(Or type Control-D for normal startup);

---- End message ----

Keyin your root pasword and issue this command

fsck -p

This will check the hard disk. Time estimation around 45 minutes for 1 tera (1000GB) hard disk.

If the above command fail, need to force check

fsck -f -v

You may be ask with questions, just answer "y".

*** warning *** you may lose or already lost files. Answering "Y" may copy full or partial files to lost+found.

When finish just type exit and system will reboot.

Upgrading 32bit Centos 5.2 To 64bit Centos 5.3

I need to upgrade a server running Centos 5.2 32bit to Centos 5.3 64bit. Reasons

The server is upgraded to 5GB Memory from 2GB. MySQL don't like PAE extension kernel very much.

Reconfiguration will take time. Openldap +Dbmail + MySQL + Apache + Horde + Mailscanner + many more.

I have 30GB data to backup and its going to take time. The server is using Dbmail for storing the mailbox and users information in LDAP.

*** Warning *** I had done my backup. Dump the MySQL dataset, slapcat and tar tvjf directories like /etc /var/www /root into a USB portable hard disk ext2 file system.

The upgrade was easy. Boot the system using 64bit Centos 5.3 DVD and select upgrade. Making sure the installation wizard detect the older installation.

My finding after upgrade. Not all packages upgrade to 64bit. I believe only small numbers that related to Linux kernel 64bit are change to 64bit program. Others still running with 32bit binary.

I have to uninstall and reinstall and reconfigure MySQL to make it run using 64bit binary. Other programs I just lets it using 32bit binary because its going to be tedious to check one by one.

Yum upgrade break due to conflict between 32bit and 64bit packages in repository. will figure out this later this week.

--- Update

My perl modules break during Mailscanner compilation.

The error

/usr/include/gnu/stubs.h:9:27: error: gnu/stubs-64.h: No such file or directory

Yum does not real know when packages i386 ans x64 mixed. I need to install manually c library for x64 from CD or by command

yum -y install glibc-devel.x86_64

When SANS Storage Having A Fever

When Centos (Its can be applied to other linux Distros) having problem to mount a file system in /etc/fstab when operating system boot, it will go into maintainance mode.

You can just enter the root password and run command fsck

but in this case the fiber channel card dead.

I need to bypass the file system until the fiber card replace. There is one problem. Under mantainance mode / root file system is only read only.

mount -o remount /

command to make / with read write mode. Manage to edit the /etc/fstab and remark the line needed and manage to reboot the system.

Then when the fiber channel replace. The volume group not detected. Haiya. What now.

due to error lvm will remove the vg from active list. Used this commands

pvscan

vgscan

vgchange -ay

making sure the volume group you want in the information.

Pendaftaran persidangan keseluruhan masih dibuka sehingga 1 Jun 2009.

*** Masuk Percuma Hari Hackathon ***

All Govt Agencies To Implement Open Source Software

All Govt Agencies To Implement Open Source Software

Bernama - Friday, April 24

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) expects all government agencies to implement open source software (OSS) by end of next year.

To date, 462 agencies from a total of 720 agencies have implemented OSS, which managed to provide a savings of more than RM47 million, said Mampu deputy director of ICT (information and communications technology) policy and planning division, Tan King Ing.

"We had utilised the OSS development model for rapid development of product at a lower cost by building upon existing solutions," she said at a media briefing here today.

Eight OSS products have been developed for use by all public sector agencies, she told reporters.

To further contribute to the industry, Mampu and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) will host the 2009 MSC Malaysia Open Source Conference from May 31 to June 3.

Targeted at business executives, developers and the open source community, the conference is expected to attract about 1,000 local and overseas participants, said MDeC vice president Saifol Shamlan.

With the theme "Open to Change", the conference aimed to provide exposure and knowledge on the importance of open source in enhancing competitiveness with a lower cost of ownership, Saifol said.

"The conference provides a platform for participants to actively interact, share and exchange their views, ideas and tools on the latest trends and issues," he said.

Among the speakers lined up are representatives from Mozilla, Google, Microsoft, Linux, Red Hat, Sun Microsystems, Extol, Ubuntu-my, Krimmet, Hack In The Box and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).

Saifol said the OSS industry has shown a positive trend and remained resilent despite the global economic crisis.

"We want the industry to be viable and growing," he said, adding that about four percent of the MSC Malaysia-status companies was currently in the OSS business. -- BERNAMA

Semangat Sumber Terbuka

Kenapa saya cintakan Sumber Terbuka (OSS - Open Source Software)?

Kami bukan orang berduit. Ramai masih baru bekerja.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ast/

Tapi

Kutuk, bambu, mengata sebelum bermula. Boikot sebelum apa-apa dibincangkan dengan mereka???

Saya hormat organisasi ini. Turun ke tanah, bertemu komuniti, open up dan mendengar. Mereka mahu belajar.

Adakah kita sebagai Guru, so called Guru, perlu sombong ...

Kenapa sekarang begitu bongkak???

Maaf.... Saya kasar.

We want to be open, we want to follow FOSS way tapi kita perlu sesuaikan semangat itu dengan cara dan budaya kita.

As long usaha ini akan berjaya.

The "We're Linux" Video Contest

The "We're Linux" Video Contest

If you've been alive and aware of mass media over the last twelve months, you've probably seen television commercials from Apple and Microsoft touting their operating system. From Apple's ubiquitous "I'm a Mac" to Jerry Seinfeld to Microsoft's "I'm a PC" retort, operating system commercials have been flooding the airways. Except one OS has been notably absent – Linux.

While the Linux Foundation would love to spend millions promoting Linux on TV, it's simply not our style (or in our budget). Even more importantly, Linux isn't a top-down, commercially controlled operating system. It's a grassroots product of mass collaboration. That's why we're sponsoring a community contest to create a Linux video that showcases just what Linux means to those who use it, and hopefully inspires many to try it.

The winner will receive a free trip to Tokyo, Japan to participate in the Linux Foundation Japan Linux Symposium in October 2009. The winning video will also be unveiled at the Linux Foundation's Collaboration Summit in San Francisco on April 8, 2009.

Jika kami menang, ketahuilah, seluruh Malaysia menang!
